Here's To Youth

My dear and fading youth. To say I will miss you is an understatement. So bright and fierce, goofy and brilliant; you’ve stuttered and spat, pirouetted and smiled. We lit fires in Hollywood and stumbled drunkenly through Sunset. We’ve had our fights and our moments of grace but we’ve spent more days apart than together recently. The time we have shared lately has started with “remember when…”
I know that we have parted ways many times over the past few years, but tonight my friend, tonight I fear I must bid you farewell. And so let me say simply, your bravado has fueled a lifetime of laughter.
Your innocence will never be recaptured.
Your bravery has no equal.
But your beauty,
may your beauty continue to linger like phosphenes marking the days you were with me.
I will carry you in my heart as you are reborn in another’s.
Bravo you damn gorgeous firefly, I’m on my feet as your curtain closes, my heart like a racing hound. They say you are wasted on the young. Hell, I’d have it no other way.

Whoa. What an awesome post. Dude.

I'm just smiling goofily and talking drivel here it seems, but I thought I'd say I was here...

sunbathing in those phosphenes...

and I'll be back again, that's for sure.
